Megan Poindexter, Executive Director

Megan Poindexter joined SRC as the Executive Director in January 2019.  Megan comes to SRC with over 20 years of nonprofit experience, specifically working with seniors in Douglas County having been the Executive Director of Trinity In-Home Care for six years and Director of Development for the Friends of the Lied Center of Kansas. She holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and a bachelors in Family Studies Human Services and Community Development.  Megan maintains strong connections within the area community as a member of numerous civic and industry groups dedicated to serving the senior population, including the Lawrence Rotary Club, Douglas County Coalition on Aging, and Lawrence Area Professionals on Aging. In her personal time, Megan’s grade-school aged daughters and husband keep her running, as does her love of reading and the outdoors.

Heidi Briery, Director of Transportation Services
Heidi is married and has two grown children and a Border collie. She grew up in western Kansas, the oldest of eight children, and still tends to call it home. When she’s not in the office, she prefers to be outside gardening, hiking, camping, or canoeing. She also likes to embroider, knit, crochet, and occasionally paint–water color being her preferred medium.  During the auto racing season she can be found with her husband at the race track. Sometimes she just watches and other times she helps with her husband’s favorite pastime: photographing the race. Once a year she herself even participates in a local road rally.

Johnetta Brown, Senior Wheels Coordinator
Johnetta was born and raised in Lawrence. She has three grown daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Johnetta has been with the agency nine years, previously working as a driver and later the Coordinator for the Senior Meals program. Johnetta likes to sew and and is very knowledgeable about plants.  She is the resident “green thumb” of SRC!

Charlene Haines, Community Engagement Specialist
Charlene has lived in Lawrence for over 35 years and loves this community. She is the face of SRC and greets everyone who comes to the agency with a smile and often a hug. She is cheerful, outgoing, and loves people. You can often catch her out and about with her dog Daisy. Charlene is a loving person and the perfect person to greet our guests at SRC.

Paige Hill, Community Engagement Specialist
Paige Hill has lived in Lawrence for over 35 years. She retired from working as an administrative assistant to the district court judge in 2000 and previously worked with the Lawrence School District. Paige has two grown daughters, Morgan and Meghan, and three grandchildren whom she loves spending as much time with as possible. Paige also enjoys golf, swimming, and backgammon.

Janet Ikenberry, Director of Health & Human Services
Janet is a lifelong Douglas County resident. She grew up in Baldwin City and attended Baker University before moving to Lawrence to attend the University of Kansas, where she earned her degree in Sociology and Psychology. Janet celebrated 25 years with the agency in November 2017 and has a passion for serving others.  She leads the SRC Caregivers Support Group and is the resident contact for supports and services for seniors in the area.  Janet is a true dog lover and enjoys life with her beloved sidekicks Bindi and Gus.

Kim Luce, Program Coordinator
Kim joined the SRC staff in January of 2023, but she has called Lawrence home for over 30 years. She and her husband Chad were married in 1994, just after graduating from KU, and they love this community so much they never left! They have two rescue dogs, Fresco and Flower, who are both failed fosters with their own special needs. Kim’s former career was as a report programmer for the KU Endowment Association, where she worked for 12 years until she became a caregiver to her mother, who passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2022. Kim loves hiking, jogging, live music, dancing, and traveling—especially to National Parks!

Stefanie Macfarlane, Director of Administrative Services
Stefanie moved to Lawrence with her husband in 2016 when he retired from the Army after 26 years. They raised 3 kids together and now have a granddaughter as well. Stefanie was born and raised in Germany and is bilingual with fluency in German and English. She has considerable experience in a variety of settings, including screen printing skills, a diploma in prepress techniques and graphic design. She has experience working with seniors and adults with disabilities. Previously, Stefanie worked for 10 years as Transportation Assistant for the Army motor pool fleet at two different Army bases in Germany. In 2009 she received the Employee of the Year award from the US Army Europe, Department of Logistics.

Lori Jo Phillips, Health Resources Coordinator
A fourth generation Kansan and graduate of the University of Kansas, Lori is proud to call Lawrence, “Home”. Having worked a combined total of 26 years for General Dynamics Information Technologies and the University of Kansas, she is eager to share her Medicare knowledge, administrative skills, and customer service experience with well-established and new residents of Douglas County. When not espousing the benefits of living in the Wakarusa Valley, Lori can be seen downtown at restaurants and bookstores or kayaking and playing disc golf with her avid outdoorsman mate, Dave. Together they have raised a fine young man, George, and are still feeding four scruffy cats.

Doug Wendel, Director of Operations
Doug Wendel moved to Lawrence with his wife, Lisa, in 1995 from Southern California. He has an undergraduate degree from Pomona College in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from KU. Doug’s previous work in Lawrence has been primarily at KU’s Lied Center of Kansas before recently joining the Senior Resource Center. Doug and Lisa have to adult daughters. Doug appreciates the opportunity to serve the greater Douglas County community and particularly the senior population. In his free time, Doug enjoys the performing arts, gardening, fixing things, and spending time with his family and two cats.

Nancy Wiebe, Health Resources Coordinator
Nancy is a recent Lawrence transplant, joining SRC in 2019 initially as an AmeriCorps member helping coordinate SRC’s Medicare services. Later, in the fall of 2020, she joined the staff permanently after completing her term with AmeriCorps. She grew up in Caldwell, KS and graduated from KU with BS in Journalism and later earned her MBA. Her previous experience includes 35 years of working with a variety of nonprofits and foundations mostly in the Wichita area. She and her husband Cal have three adult children and two grandchildren who live in Kansas City. She is an avid reader, writer, amateur genealogist and has a love of travel.

Larry Woydziak, Program Specialist, Health and Human Services
Larry is a native Kansan and has lived in Lawrence since 1978. He was a member of the Lawrence Fire Department for over 28 years and retired with the rank of Fire Captain in the spring of 2005. Following retirement from the Fire Service he worked at various local non-profits before accepting a position at DCSS (now SRC) in the spring of 2013. His work here affords him the opportunity to meet and assist numerous people and thus has allowed him to extend his career in public service in a community he has come to call home.
