Arts & Entertainment

Whether you want to relive the 50s, root for the home team, try out a hidden talent, or see a play, the opportunities to attend events or get involved in projects yourself seem limitless in Douglas County.

For example, we offer scholarships for seniors to take classes at the Lawrence Arts Center. Classes are available in photography, pottery, acting, ballet, jazz, tap, writing fiction, metalsmithing, printmaking, bookmaking, painting, fashion design, film making, ukulele, singing, fabric printing, 1940s radio drama readings, sculpting, stained glass, storytelling, poetry writing, and much more.

Every week the Downtown Tuesday Painters meet at the SRC. No need to live near downtown or to register. Just come and bring whatever project you are working on, whether it’s a painter or other art medium. Join in the camaraderie and fun.

World-class entertainment is available at the Lied Center in Lawrence, featuring famous artists and performers in a wide variety of genres. All seniors receive a 10% discount to Lied Center Presents performances.

We offer free and reduced tickets to various events and performances too, so call Larry at (785) 727-7871 to find out what’s coming up next or contact us us using our online form.
