More about our Center

745 Vermont Street is a unique building on the National Historic Registry. Don’t be thrown off by the “police” sign over our front door! Originally built in 1950 as a police station alongside the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Station #1, the Senior Resource Center was gifted this space by the City of Lawrence starting in 1979. A full, top-to-bottom (historically approved) renovation took place between 2017 and 2019, funded entirely by the City of Lawrence and Douglas County. Featuring ADA compliant space, various meeting and activity rooms, as well as our Game Room, SRC enjoys showing off this beautiful space. You can even rent space here. We hope to see you here soon!
